FOR WIZARD TEST MAKER VERSION
7.0 OR HIGHER & EDUGAME! VERSION 3.0 OR HIGHER
On a client machine, going through a mapped drive
to which teachers have access, create a folder called “Eduware” on your
server. Note: Make sure all users have
both READ and WRITE permissions to the parent directory and that you DO
NOT hide any files inside the folder.
Insert the Eduware CD and install the Wizard Test
Maker and/or EduGame! by browsing to the directory you’ve just created.
Note: We recommend that you install
the program(s) through the shared drive rather than installing on the
server and then moving the folder. If you install on the server, and then
map the drive, you may have to modify the entry in the Wizard.INI file
in order for the program to run.
Once installation is complete, launch the Wizard
Test Maker from any workstation. At the sign-on screen, click the yellow
square that says “click here to activate.” Once
you see the activation screen displaying the Computer ID and the Code
Entry Number, call 1-888-EDUWARE (leaving your activation window active)
and tell the Eduware representative that you are calling to activate your
network installation. Note: If you’ve
successfully completed the network installation, the Computer ID# should
be approximately 5 characters long (4 numbers and a letter), whereas a
local install normally produces a much longer Computer ID # of 8 or more
characters.
Each client PC must access this shared folder
(i.e. “Eduware”) through the same drive letter mapping (i.e. D:, E:, F:,
etc.), as activation is tied to the network path. Note:
Direct network access (i.e. \\server\apps\Eduware) WILL NOT work.
To create desktop icons for each workstation,
drag the already-created shortcuts for each subject-specific Wizard Test
Maker or EduGame! from inside the Eduware folder to the client machine’s
desktop. DO NOT choose “send to desktop” or create your own shortcuts
on the workstations.
