What are the differences between the desktop and online software?

Pricing
The desktop and online software are sold separately. Generally, the online version is subscription based (meaning the user or school pays each year to continue using the service) and the desktop version is a permanent purchase (the user or school owns what was purchased).
To see all pricing options, click here.

Upgrades
With the online software, you will always receive our newest question content as long as you have a subscription. With the desktop software, the questions you have access to are the questions that are available when purchasing. (For example, if you buy Earth Science 2011, you have access to all questions up until (and including) 2011. When our 2012 updated questions are released, you would need to purchase an update to have access to these extra questions.)
For upgrade pricing, please contact us.

Content
The question content and subject libraries are identical between the online software and desktop software.
To see the question content offered, click here.

Accessibility
The desktop software must be installed and activated on each computer (or network). Any work you save on one computer must be transferred to another computer if want to continue working on it.
The online software is completely web-based, meaning you could log into your account from any computer with Internet access. Everything gets saved directly to your account online (you can additionally chose to save offline if you wish).

Hardware/Software Compatibility
The desktop software is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
The online software is compatible with all operating systems and all major web browsers.

We offer FREE trials of both types of software:
To try WizardTM.com, click here to create your free account.

The Mini wands are smaller and have less button functions. The buttons include the navigation arrows, A, B, C, D answer choices, and 2 multi-purpose buttons. Most users find that the Mini wands meet their basic needs.

The Classic wands are larger and have more button functions. These additional buttons include a full numeric keypad, buttons for positive/negative, decimals, flags, and a clear/back button. Most higher level math and science teachers find these additional buttons useful.
