The Wizard Test Maker
Technical Frequently Asked Questions
Question: The screens are flashing and blinking and/or the subject books are not present in The Library. Why?
Answer:
To fix a flashing or blinking screen you will need to adjust the color
settings of you monitor. To
do this:
1) Click on Control Panel in My Computer
2) Select Display
3) Select Settings
4) Select High Color (16bit)
5) Select Apply and OK
Question: I have installed the Wizard Test Maker on my computer but when I click on a book in The Library nothing happens.
Answer: You most likely did not install the question database that you are trying to access.
Question: When I am making a test, why do the questions sometimes not appear in the Select Questions Suite?
Answer: This will sometimes happen when there are a lot of graphics or when your computer is running low on conventional memory. To view the questions, simply reduce the question size (bottom left corner of The Select Questions Suite). If this does not work you may have to shut the Wizard Test Maker down and restart you computer.
Question: Is there anyway I can save my files with longer, more descriptive file names
Answer: We are looking into what can be done about the short names. It is an inherent problem with the Wizard Test Maker because it was written to support Windows 3.1 (which does not support long file names.) We are actively seeking a solution.
Question: I've got a new HP printer, the printer works fine with other programs, but I can't seem to print out an exam from the Wizard. What is the reason for this?
Answer:
We are experiencing some problems with our program being able to communicate
with some HP printers. Basically, all HP color deskjets will print out
tests from the Wizard by using the HP 550C printer driver. You will need
to install this driver which will only be used for the Wizard program.
1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click
Printers and Faxes.
2. Click Add Printer.
3. Click Next.
4. Select Local Printer, click Next.
5. Select the port that you printer is connected to, Click Next.
6. Click the appropriate printer manufacturer (HP) and printer model (HP
DeskJet 500C).
7. Click Next, and then follow the instructions on the screen to finish
installing the printer driver.
NOTE: If you are prompted for a Windows disk and you do not have one you
can go to our website
to download the printer driver.
When printing from the Wizard Test Maker select the HP 550c in the printing
suite.
